The Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, Vandana Mohit, formally presented the grant to the Foundation’s Vice President, Ms Mala Jadoonanan, on Saturday at its location in Chase Village, Carapichaima.

Delivering remarks at the handover, Mohit was quoted as saying, “It is a pleasure to be able to provide support and witness the meaningful work being done within our communities. We remain committed to working alongside organisations like A Touch of Joy Foundation to ensure that vulnerable women and girls have access to the resources and support they need.”

The MPSDFS stated the ‘Fight for Her Dignity’ initiative would provide approximately 500 women and girls with menstrual hygiene and personal care kits, menstrual health education, women’s health and wellness sessions, public awareness and advocacy, and referrals to health and social support services.

Additionally, it stated, a further 1,500 women and girls would benefit through educational and public awareness activities.

The MPSDFS noted that A Touch of Joy Foundation, which was established in 2020, works with vulnerable individuals and families through community outreach, health and wellness initiatives, education, women’s empowerment, and other social development programmes.

It stated the Ministry’s support strengthened the Foundation’s “ability to connect vulnerable women and girls with essential resources, information and support within their communities. It also provides an opportunity to address immediate needs while promoting greater awareness and understanding of menstrual health.”
