STOP exaggerating figures.
This was the caution made to Senator Wade Mark by Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi in the Senate on Tuesday as it related to the case between A&V Oil and Gas Ltd and now defunct State-owned Petrotrin.
Al-Rawi in answering questions to Mark said the Attorney General had nothing to do with the matter.
Mark asked, “In light of the recent arbitration award amounting to approximately $1billion in favour of A&V Oil and Gas Limited, will the State be filing application to the High Court to seek to have this arbitration award set aside?”
Describing Mark’s questions as dangerous, Al-Rawi responded, “There is no award for $1billion. There is a black and white written judgement which starts at TT$84million. This is a matter engaging the attention of Petrotrin, the Office of the Attorney General has no dealings with this matter and never has. This matter will be considered by their counsel as to whether an appeal is in order.”
He reminded that the Senate that Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar was the one who raised the matter.
Al-Rawi added that the decision made in the matter was under review.
