THE cousin of the late reputed gangster Vaughn ‘Sandman’ Mieres is fatally shot in Maracas/St Joseph on Saturday.
Reports indicate that Dillon “Mission” Mieres was shot dead by gunmen who ambushed him and his wife in a white Toyota sedan at Lleungo Village.
His wife, Mary Reyes, who was seated in the front seat, was shot multiple times and was warded in critical condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
Police said the gunmen crashed into the couple’s car and then opened fire.
On July 25, Mieres, his wife Alika “Letty” Dehere and two of his bodyguards, Kadir Joseph and Nigel ‘Blood’ Octin, were murdered at his Las Cuevas home.
Police said the murderers set their vehicles on fire and escaped by sea after the job was completed. High-powered weapons were used in the hit.
A week later, on August 2, Durell “Shorto” Raymond was charged with the four murders.
And on August 13, in what police described as a reprisal for Sandman’s murder, Shaquille “Papa” Eugene was shot dead.
