ON Christmas Eve, Trinidad and Tobago has recorded its highest daily number of Covid-19 related deaths since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
The Ministry of Health in its latest update #948 on Friday reported 37 deaths.
One of the deaths is a teenaged girl and eleven had no known medical conditions.
There are now more than 2,700 Covid deaths in T&T.
The ministry also reported 964 new positive cases taken from samples during the period December 20 to December 23.
The 37 deaths included:
- 12 elderly men;
- 10 elderly women;
- 10 middle-aged men;
- 4 middle-aged women; and
- 1 teenage girl.
The ministry stated that some of the people who died had comorbidities including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, asthma, cancer, dementia, kidney disease, Alzheimer’s Disease and strokes.
It stated that 18 had multiple comorbidities, eight had only one and eleven had no known medical conditions.
