A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Roxanne Barrow-Reyes who was fatally shot while standing outside a bar on Ninth Avenue in Barataria.
Brandon John, of Barataria, is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today.
He was charged with the murder of Barrow-Reyes and shooting with intent against a 39-year-old man, which occurred on June 8, 2022.
John was also charged with possession of firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of firearm to endanger life and possession of ammunition to endanger life, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC.
On Wednesday 15, 2022. Barrow-Reyes, 48, of Barataria, with another man on Ninth Avenue on June 8, when they were approached by a lone gunman who shot in the direction of the group.
Barrow-Reyes was hit and fell to the ground, after which the gunman allegedly stood over her and shot at her again before making his escape.
A 39-year-old man was also shot and wounded during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.
John was arrested in connection with the incident on June 11, 2022, by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Two. Investigations into the matter were supervised by ASP Douglas, Insp Sylvester and Insps Ramjag and John, all of the HBI Region Two.
John was charged on Thursday with the offences by PC Joseph.
