OVER 70 floods were reported on Monday as the country continues to be overwhelmed by flood waters for a third consecutive day.
The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government in its incident summary at 1.30 pm stated that 77 floods occurred with 34 floods in the Couva Tabaquite Talparo Regional Corporation (CTRRC) alone.
The Mayaro Rio Claro Regional Corporation (MRRC) was the next hardest hit with 13 floods reported in that district.
Ten out of 14 Corporations all reported flooding.
Landslides were also rampant with 47 being reported, 14 in the CTRRC. Nine corporations reported landslides.
The ministry in its report also stated that 3,145 sandbags were distributed, 1,500 in the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC).
Mattresses, tarpaulins and cleaning agents were also given out.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) in its fourth weather alert has informed that Trinidad and Tobago is no longer under an Orange Level but Yellow Level weather alert.
However, the Riverine Orange Level Alert was extended for communities surrounding Caroni and South Oropouche Rivers.
Both alerts have been extended till Tuesday at 12 pm.
