TROPICAL Storm Beryl is now a Category 1 Hurricane and is the first to form for the season.
In an update at 5pm on Saturday, Dr Michael Brennan of the National Hurricane Centre said, “Hurricane Beryl is expected to bring-life threatening winds and storm surge to the Windward Islands. And as of 5 pm, it was located at 1,160 km ESE of Barbados.”
Due to this development, Barbados has since been placed under a Hurricane Warning.
Hurricane Warnings were also in effect for St Lucia, Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
While a Tropical Storm Watch remaining in effect for Tobago, Dominica and Martinique.
