A 12 yr old St James teenager was rescued by police during a strategic joint exercise early Saturday morning.
The teenager was rescued when officers of several units based on intelligence information, mounted a coordinated search in the upper Dibe region, a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated on Saturday.
The boy was taken by a relative on Friday morning. The relative had an argument with the boy’s mother and stabbed her before taking the boy into the hills.
With the use of thermal imaging from the operational drones the suspect and victim were identified in a secluded forested area. Officers pursued and rescued the victim, however the suspect evaded the officers along the river bank.
The victim suffered from minor cuts and bruises and dehydration. He was taken for medical attention and reunited with his family.
The operation was launched and spearheaded by Snr Supt Henry, Supt Williams, Asp Brown, and supervised by Insp Raymond, Insp Basant, Insp DeGale, Sgts Jack and Linton and with astute support from officers of the Western Division Task Force, Criminal Investigations Division, Guard and Emergency Bureau, Coastal and Air Support, Anti Kidnapping Squad and Special Investigations Unit.
