SEXOLOGIST Dr Giriraj “Raj” Ramnanan is offering advice to TRIBE masqueraders who are curious about using The Rose, which was gifted to them, to ensure their health, safety, and intimacy.
Continuing from Tuesday’s article, Ramnanan provides information on how to use The Rose for the first time and discusses the popularity of sex toys as Valentine’s Day gifts.
Asked what advice he would give to people trying out The Rose for the first time, Dr Ramnanan said the first step is to examine the item to ensure it is not damaged and that there are no leaks or chemical residue on the device.
He stressed that before using The Rose, it must be cleaned.
Ramnanan said, “Make sure you clean it properly. Even though it’s in a piece of plastic, a plastic bag, or whatever, you need to clean it properly. Use warm water. That’s a good agent to clean it. You don’t have to put any chemicals on it.”
Once the item is clean, and before it is used on any intimate areas, he said it should be tested on another part of the body to “ensure it is comfortable and not irritating.”
Ramnanan said once it is comfortable, it can be used on intimate areas, but users should always apply lubricant.
He added that once you are finished with the toy, it must be cleaned and stored properly.
Ramnanan said, “When you finish, properly clean it. There are toy cleaners for those who don’t know—go to an adult store and get a toy cleaner. Spray it, wipe it off, put some cornstarch on it, and put it away. Make sure you wrap it in a cloth before putting it back into its box.”
Discussing the trend toward a more liberal society and greater interest in sexual expression and exploration, Ramnanan said sex toys were quickly becoming the new flowers and chocolates of Valentine’s Day.
Asked what sex toys are popular gifts, he said, “For women, you have vibrators that look like a household item. You can have it in your home and it looks like a decorative piece of art, but it’s actually a vibrator. There’s one that looks like a key for your own vehicle, and it has eight different vibrations.”
“I’ve given my girlfriend a Rose, so now people are asking, ‘Which rose? Which rose—the long-stem rose or the regular rose?’” he joked.
Ramnanan’s biggest issue with TRIBE including a sex toy in its female players’ goodie bags was that male-specific sex toys were not handed out to male players.
For women looking to surprise their male counterparts with a sex toy for Valentine’s Day, Ramnanan said pumps were an incredibly popular option.
