According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), an intelligence-led operation was conducted between 2 am and 12.30 pm on February 24 by officers attached to the Arima Charge Room and the Arima Intelligence and Operations Units.
Police reported that around 2 am, officers conducting a street check observed a white Mitsubishi wagon that abruptly sped off after the occupants noticed police.
The TTPS said officers pursued and intercepted the vehicle a short distance away, then searched it. The search resulted in the arrest of four men, who were found with several number plates.
The TTPS said that around 11.30 am, officers acting on intelligence revisited the area where the suspects were initially detained.
A search of the eastern side of the roadway at the corner of Daniel Trace and Train Line Road, Malabar, Arima, led to the discovery of a 9mm Glock pistol fitted with a magazine containing 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The TTPS said the firearm and ammunition were seized, and the scene was processed by officers of the Northern Division Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit.
