A 73-year-old businessman was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 with a surety when he appeared at the Port of Spain North A High Court on August, 15, 2024.
The accused, charged with three counts of sexual penetration, appeared before Magistrate Margaret Sookraj-Goswami, who ordered that the man shall not communicate either directly or indirectly with the victim. As part of the bail conditions, the accused was also ordered to report to a specific police station once per week, between 6 am and 6 pm.
The matter was adjourned to October 29, 2024. According to police reports, on three occasions on unknown dates during the period March 27, 2024 and April 30, 2024, a landlord allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old tenant at her home.
A report was made to the police on 18th July 2024; officers of the Special Victims Department investigated the matter and a man was arrested in connection with the report on 14th August 2024.
The investigation was supervised by acting Insp Jacob.
