A Princes Town man has appeared before a Master of the High Court charged with the murder of his mother.
Adrian Koat, 31, of Cleghorne Village, Princes Town, was charged with the with the murder of Marlah Boodram, which occurred on August 12, 2024.
He appeared before Master Sookraj Goswami, in the San Fernando South A High Court, on Friday.
The Sufficiency Hearing is set for June 12, 2025. Boodram, 56, of the same address, was at her home on August 11, 2024, when she was allegedly locked in a room by a male relative and physically assaulted over a period of time. She died at the scene on August 12, 2024.
A male suspect was arrested by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region Three, shortly after.
Investigations were spearheaded by acting Supt Persad and supervised by acting ASP Maharaj, both of HBI Region Three.
Koat was charged on August 15, 2024 by PC Ramdhanee, also of HBI Region Three, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Sabrina Jaglal.
