A bye-election will be held for the Local Government electoral district of Debe South on February 7.
The after Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley advised President Paula-Mae Weekes of the bye-election.
The electoral district of Debe South is in the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation and became vacant after the death of Local Government Councillor Purushottam Singh on February 14, 2021.
Nomination Day will be on Monday, January 17 2022.
The prime minister has requested that the Writ of Election be issued in accordance with the provisions of Section 29 of the Municipal Corporations Act, Chapter 24:04, the release stated.
