The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) has discussions with representatives of bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) and the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) on advancing the Manakin/Cocuina Cross-Border Gas Project.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Energy Dr Roodal Moonilal and included Karinsa Tulsie, Permanent Secretary, and Ava Mahabir-Dass, Permanent Secretary (Ag), along with other officials from the MEEI, bpTT and NGC.
Held at the Ministry’s Head Office on Thursday, the engagement focused on the status and development of the Manakin/Cocuina cross-border natural gas resource and explored opportunities for further collaboration between the Government, bpTT and NGC to move the project forward.
The Manakin/Cocuina field is a natural gas resource that straddles the maritime boundary between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. The MEEI said the discussions form part of broader efforts to progress dialogue on the potential development of the cross-border resource and its value to Trinidad and Tobago’s natural gas sector.
Moonilal said continued collaboration among stakeholders strengths the country’s energy sector.
