Top executives from global energy technology giant SLB, formerly known as Schlumberger, met with government officials on Friday to discuss the company’s ongoing operations and the future outlook of Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector.
The high-level talks took place on Friday at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ Head Office at the International Waterfront Complex.
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr Roodal Moonilal, led the government delegation. He was joined by Minister in the Ministry of Energy, Ernesto Kesar; Permanent Secretary, Karinsa Tulsie; and Chief Technical Officer, Marc Rudder.

Representing SLB were Carmen Rando Bejar, President of the Americas, alongside Paul Hosein, the company’s Managing Director for Trinidad, Guyana, and the Caribbean.
During the meeting, SLB executives reaffirmed the company’s long-standing commitment to Trinidad and Tobago. The delegation expressed strong optimism regarding the future of the local energy sector, recognising the country’s extensive history, technical expertise, and strategic position as a regional energy hub.
A key focal point of the discussions was the company’s Energy Accelerator Hub, which SLB noted plays a crucial role in supporting its projects whilst strengthening and optimising efficiency across the broader energy value chain.

The technology firm also highlighted its strong dedication to local content. SLB executives proudly noted that more than 95 per cent of the company’s employees in Trinidad and Tobago are nationals, underscoring its investment in the local workforce.
Looking beyond domestic borders, the two parties explored opportunities for continued collaboration aimed at strengthening regional energy cooperation. This includes potential initiatives integrating Trinidad and Tobago with emerging hydrocarbon powerhouses such as Guyana and Suriname, as well as other producing nations within the wider Caribbean region.
SLB remains a major player in the global energy industry, providing critical technology and services that support energy development worldwide.
