MINISTER of Works and Infrastructure, Jearlean John will act as Prime Minister until Kamla Persad-Bissessar returns from the United Nations.
“We extend our best wishes to Minister John as she assumes this responsibility,” a Facebook post by Persad-Bissessar stated on Tuesday.
This is the first time that Persad-Bissesar has travelled since being sworn-in as prime minister on May 1, following the April 28 general elections.
She will join at the UN General Assembly Minister of Foreign Affairs Sean Sobers, Minister of Public Utilities Barry Padarath and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and the Office of the Prime Minister Nicholas Morris.
