A 21-year-old labourer was granted $200,000 bail with surety on charges of rape, false imprisonment and attempted grievous sexual assault.
Tyrese Stewart, also known as “Santana” of Phase Seven, La Horquetta, appeared before Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay, in the Arima Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
This according to a Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) release on Saturday.
Police stated that a 20-year-old woman, visited the La Horquetta Police Station on May 16, and alleged that while at a friend’s house on that same date, a man locked her in a room and had sexual intercourse with her against her will.
Upon claim, an investigation was launched and Stewart was arrested and charged in connection with the incident by Constable Fletcher Johnson on the same day.
The hearing was adjourned to June 14.
