A Tableland man has been charged with two counts of forgery stemming from driving illegally on the Priority Bus Route.
On Wednesday, Neil Barrington appeared before Master Lisa Singh-Phillip charged with the Possession of a Forged Document and Uttering of a Forged Document.
Barrington was not called upon to enter a plea and was granted bail with surety in the sum of $70,000.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Thursday stated Barrington was stopped by members of the Transport Division during their patrol on the Priority Bus Route, Tacarigua on September 16.
Barrington’s vehicle was outfitted with light bars attached to the windscreen, for which he claimed he had permission.
The TTPS stated Barrington produced a document alleged to be an approval from the Licensing Division for the lights.
Upon inspecting the document, officers discovered that they were forgeries.
The TTPS stated Barrington was subsequently arrested and charged by WPC Irish of the Fraud Squad.
Barrington was expected to return to court on February 24, 2026.
