The IDB Group said the agreement will help unlock investment, expand financing opportunities and strengthen business ties between Italy and the region.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. Under the MoU, the collaboration may support co-financing, risk-sharing and blended-finance structures, as well as technical assistance for public and private sector operations.
The IDB Group said areas of cooperation include critical minerals, energy security, sustainable transport and logistics, water resource management, resilient infrastructure, biodiversity and natural capital, agribusiness, and food security.
The agreement will also help connect Italian companies, technologies, goods and services with projects and partners in the region through IDB for the Americas, the IDB Group’s programme that promotes business opportunities and strengthens commercial ties between Latin America and the Caribbean and international partners.
