KINGSTOWN, ST VINCENT – CHIEF Magistrate Colin John has postponed the sentencing of a British national who pleaded guilty to the possession of 2.5 kilograms of cocaine at the Argyle International Airport last week to Thursday.
Warren-Lee Davies was initially scheduled to be sentenced on Monday at the Serious Offences Court, but the prosecution requested an adjournment, indicating that there is new information that could be helpful to the court in sentencing the British national. The prosecution said the information should be available by Thursday and asked for an adjournment until then.
Defence counsel Grant Connell said that while the prosecutor did not give “too much detail as to what they want”, he did not object to the adjournment.
Chief Magistrate John adjourned the matter to Thursday and further remanded Davies into custody.
Police said Davies was arrested after the cocaine was found in his suitcase as he was preparing to board a flight to the United Kingdom.
He appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court last Friday and pleaded guilty to charges of cocaine possession and attempted exportation. (CMC)
