A MAN who was a state witness in the alleged fatal shooting of a police officer by his colleagues has been murdered in Morvant on Sunday.
Jehlano “Lano” Romney, 28, was killed just before 10 pm at Coconut Drive at the home of a relative.
He was initially accused of killing PC Clarence Gilkes and was in hiding until an autopsy and ballistics exonerated him.
Romney, of Upper Rich Plain Road Diego Martin, was no longer a suspect in the case after it was revealed that Gilkes died from police gunfire.
Gilkes had died after being shot during a police exercise in Rich Plain, Diego Martin, on April 22, 2022.
