A 30-year-old woman is expected to appear before a Princes Town magistrate on Monday, charged with the manslaughter of her nine-month-old daughter.
Shalini Ramsaroop, of New Grant, was charged with the offence following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions George Busby on Friday.
She was charged with the offence by Sgt Ramdial of the Southern Division the same day.
Police reports are that on September 21, an unregistered nine-month-old baby girl, was brought unresponsive to the Princes Town Health Facility for treatment and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation into the matter, Ramsaroop was arrested. Investigations were spearheaded by acting Supt Dhillpaul, supervised by Insp Jones and included Sgts Elvin and Forbes, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three.
