Attorney killed one month after surviving ambush
Wednesday’s double murder occurred just one day after attorney-at-law Taradath Singh, 53, was shot and killed outside a school in Charlieville, Chaguanas.
While police said the exact circumstances and motive surrounding Tuesday’s fatal shooting remain unclear, the killing came almost a month after Singh survived an earlier attempt on his life at his home on Monday, 28 September.
According to police reports from the September incident, Singh had been reversing his white BMW iX into his Penn Trace residence at around 7.35 pm when he noticed a man dressed in blue coveralls and a cap emerging from bushes opposite his property.
The suspect reportedly pointed a firearm in Singh’s direction and fired several shots. Singh managed to escape the ambush uninjured, while the gunman fled the scene on foot.
Investigators have not yet confirmed whether Tuesday’s murder is connected to the September attack. Enquiries into both fatal shootings are continuing.
